Absolute Harmony are the a capella choir of the Royal Holloway University of London Students Union.

Every year, Absolute Harmon Absolute Harmony are the a capella choir of the Royal Holloway University of London Students Union.

Every year, Absolute Harmony put on a Christmas show. This event is always filled with magic and wonder, and the 2006 Christmas Concert was possibly the most magical yet. Absolute Harmony (along with the Revelation Rock Gospel choir and the Savoy Opera society) sold out the University chapel, leaving a queue that stretched halfway along the Founder’s building outside in the cold, only able to listen from outside.

Revelation Rock Gospel performed first, with Absolute Harmony following up before the break. During the break, a small group from the Savoy Opera (Gilbert and Sullivan) society performed a couple of songs to promote their coming performance of The Pirates of Penzance.

I appologise in advance for the poor quality of this footage - my camera isn’t really all that good, and it will only allow you to film one minute at a time before it has to save the video. Hence, the concert is broken up into very small chunks, with short gaps between each segment. Also, the video tends to focus on me quite a bit, as it was filmed by my sister. Oh well, you’re really here for the audio, right? I hope that you are able to come to our next concert and not have to rely on YouTube to experience the magic of Absolute Harmony!

Absolute Harmony’s third number was the magnificent ‘Fix You’ by Coldplay. One of our musical directors, Matt, was determined to make every mum in the audience cry. I think he succeeded. This is the third part.

Carol of the Bells (Destinys Child Version)

Life Christian Academys Perfect Harmony singing Carol of the Bells at the Christmas Chapel. This song was learned from the CD of destinys child. There was no music parts written out so it was all learned by ear. The girls in order from left to right are: Emily Schimon, Yee Gee Kim, Jessie Kay, Coral Divers, Lisa Stolz, Julie Shilling, Kayla Hannah, and Allie Hood.

At last! What I consider to be the highlight of the concert (along with Fix You) is ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’, originally by Shakin’ Stevens. This song is just so fun to sing! I’m pretty sure we sang it at the 2005 Christmas Concert, so I’m hoping that we’ll get to sing it at this year’s (2007) Christmas Concert! Unfortunatly, though, for whatever reason my sister wasn’t able to film to first bit of the song… I think that she had to change the batteries in my camera, or something like that… Oh well, here it is anyway! Hopefully somebody out there has better footage of the whole concert and will be nice enough to upload it

Absolute Harmony’s second number was ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’, originally by Mariah Carey. With the gorgeously-voiced Philippa taking the lead vocals, everyone attending got a performance of a lifetime!

This is the second and final part of Shakin’ Steven’s awesome ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’, performed by Absolute Harmony. For me, this song is the very definition of an Absolute Harmony Christmas Concert. I really hope that the musical directors bring it back for the Christmas 2007 concert!
