HARMONY CHAPEL BAPTIST

Your Path to Heaven

Posted by admin on April 28, 2009

This is my family in the video. “I Baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.” I think those ancient and biblical words say it all. The word ‘Baptism’ comes from a Greek word that means to ‘plunge’ or ‘immerse’. To ‘plunge’ someone in water represents the person dying, being buried and resurrecting with Christ as a ‘new creature.’ (C.C.C. # 1214) Some call this Sacrament ‘the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit’ because Baptism results in a new birth of water and the Spirit. Without it, no one can enter the Kingdom of God. [Jn. 3:5] (C.C.C. # 1215) The history of infant Baptism has been traced to the second century and could have also existed during the days of apostolic preaching when entire ‘households’ were baptized. (C.C.C. # 1252, 1282) Taking the Easter candle, the priest says, “Receive the light of Christ.”Then, when an infant is involved, the father or the godfather lights the child’s candle from the Easter candle. That is my brother Chuck holding and lighting the candle.

So you didn’t want to take some classes to have your son baptised, and you blame the church? Don’t you think it’s important to know what you’re getting yourself into before you receive a sacrament?

    Steve, this is …
Steve, this is AWESOME -but for you, yours & a FEW alone! My son was born in Zurich, a week before his cousin in South Africa. My sister kindly arranged through her Catholic Church, a DUAL Christening! She generously had 2 cakes baked & decorated for the occasion. I and my 6mth old baby son flew to South Africa for the occasion.
OMG! We were told that this christening would not be possible until I’d attended some weekly courses!
    That’s OUTRAGEOUS - as a result, my son at 21 isn’t baptised!
