What are the roles of Godparents in the church rituals. Sorry for my ignoance as I am currently going through RCIA and finding my place in the Church. I have confirmed Catholics to fill in, just the two I want to use will teach what we want and love and care for my son.
That may depend on your priest. I know of evangelical Christians (Baptists and Christian Brethren) that have been godparents for a Catholic child.
However it surprises me as I understand being a godparent involves the promise to see that the child is brought up as a Catholic. Perhaps I am mistaken about this?
